Hydi Kalmin

Hydi Kalmin is a native of Atlanta, GA and attended both DeKalb County public schools and Yeshiva High School (now known as Atlanta Jewish Academy-very surreal to be working in the same building!) She graduated from Newcomb College of Tulane University in 1999 with her B.S. degrees in psychology and women’s studies and then received her M.Ed. in School Counseling in 2004 from Georgia State University.  In addition to working as an academic advisor at Georgia State University, she has been a high school counselor in Charleston, SC, a summer college counselor at College Summit, and most recently, the 504/SST chair and school counselor at a middle school in DeKalb County.

Being a mother of two rock star boys who were diagnosed and began early intervention at 18 months of age for developmental delays, Hydi understands the purpose and immense value of inclusive education. Her older son Ben attended the Coralwood School in their inclusion classrooms from 2012-2015, and Hydi was very active in their PTA and Foundation. She lives in Dunwoody with her husband Bruce, two sons Noah (4) and Ben (7), and their Goldendoodle named Savannah. During her free time, Hydi loves to take Spinning classes, try new restaurants, cook at home, and be outside with her family exploring different areas of the city.
