Hi, I’m Meg Hurley. This is my third year at Tapestry and my fourth year teaching middle school. Currently, I teach 8th-grade Humanities and am the lead teacher for the Middle School. I have always wanted to be a teacher – ever since I was little. Born and raised in the suburbs of Michigan, just outside Detroit; I grew up wanting for nothing and wishing for everything. After finishing college I had the opportunity to live in Manhattan and teach in the South Bronx at Bronx Arts Charter. Adjusting to the city was a feat! I learned a lot in those two years and am incredibly thankful for all I gained living and working in the big city.
When COVID-19 hit, I chose to move somewhere new – Georgia. I found Tapestry and began working here during the full virtual year. Again, lots of adjustments and lots of learning. Now that things have settled, we as a school community are finding our footing and it feels good. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I coach Tapestry’s Volleyball team with Ms. Porter. It’s amazing to have an opportunity to share this sport with our school. I love to play in my free time, rollerskate, hike, and read.
