Tony Ellison grew up in Marietta, GA. He graduated from Wheeler High School in 1998, and then Florida State University with a BA in Writing in 2002. He moved to Orlando, FL in 2003 and began his teaching career. After 10 years in education, he decided to pursue his Master’s in 2012. He earned his Master’s of Science Education degree in Middle Grades Math instruction in 2014 (a month before his daughter was born). In 2020, he earned his State of Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate during COVID. During his professional career in education, Tony has taught Middle & High School Math, 10th grade US Government, ELA, and Creative Writing at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, as well as eleven years working within the Special Education arena.
Tony lives in Smyrna-Vinings. In addition to being the school’s Director of Athletics and 6th, 7th & 8th Grade Math Teacher, he also serves as the Head Varsity Boy’s Basketball Coach here at Tapestry. Tony enjoys spending time with his family (especially his daughter Olivia) and close friends, exercising, and traveling to new places. He is thrilled to be working with the amazing staff and students at Tapestry. He looks forward to teaching Math and building a successful Tapestry Athletics program while enjoying the journey with our beloved students.
